My question is when signing up for a hosting package, say with Bluehost or Hostgator, will they register your domain for your, or do you have through http://www.latenightim.com/recommends/namecheap?

I know I am very late to the IM ballgame, but I have some ideas for Affiliate businesses that I want to get started on.  Thanks for your help.

You don’t need SSL at all unless you are doing some sort of shopping cart or ecommerce. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

Usually you only use shared SSL for private encrypted connections. For public connections like a shopping cart, you almost always need a certificate tied directly to your domain (Private SSL).

mark

When paying for a web host, should I choose a plan with “shared SSL” or “Private SSL”? What are the differences and what is the advantage of each one? Thanks!

Thanks for the kind comments.

Not sure if you are waisting your time, but if you look at search engine results, you will see very few .info sites at the top of the rankings in any niche. So, if it were me, I would

1. Find a .com domain that I liked.
2. Move my site to the new .com domain keeping all page slugs exactly the same
3. 301 redirect the old .info site to the new .com domain

Regards,
Mark

I just wanted to know if I was wasting my time trying to rank with a .info site? Do I need a top level domain to stand a chance really?

Great site by the way. I haven’t read probably 1% of the content yet and just got your first email today. Looking forward to getting to grips with it all.
